There will always be moments when your creativity will get stuck. You will find yourself sitting and thinking for hours. Sometimes getting stuck happens before you even begin concepting. Other times it could be before you begin animating. At times, I'd get stuck when I want to do something different, something better, or something I've never done.

With this, you will get that spark of creativity and find what you want to do. All it takes is to sit for a few seconds and browse through all the creatives. To all motion designers and motion graphics artists, continue on!

1. Pinterest

Pinterest is a great source for motion design inspiration.

  • It’s very simple to find motion inspiration by only typing motion graphics in the search bar.

  • There are many contributors to this platform posting and sharing creatives.

  • It's very possible to find something new every day.

But how could it be? Every day?

This platform uses something called boards on every profile. A board is a category you have on your profile to house the images or videos of a specific topic.

This is where many users can upload those creative animations as gifs or videos.

Users can also pin those creatives from other boards to their boards

I've created 3 boards for Motion Arts Media focused on inspiration and sharing. On these boards I've posted and pinned animated gifs I get new ideas from all the time.

So, if you want to find more inspiration in motion check out our Pinterest boards!

All my projects use animated text. To help produce new concepts for kinetic type I search for text animations that others have produced. Here I created a board focused on text animation inspiration.

I also have a board focused on UI animation inspiration. The UI animations used on mobile devices and mobile apps. Here you can find a large amount of UI animations that you can check out and help you on your future projects.

If you don't know how it works. Users post an image, gif, or video. Next someone else pins it on their board. Users that follow the board are notified of the new pins. They pin to their boards. From there the process continues.

Value of searching for motion inspiration on Pinterest

  • Sharing across Pinterest is easy

  • You find many types of motion design animations

  • Is very easy to search

  • You can pin those creatives to your board and save for later

These are the ways Pinterest helped me find inspiration for my motion design projects.

2. Instagram

Instagram is a great platform to find motion inspiration and may top Pinterest for that reason. The content from motion graphic designers is present and growing.

Here on Instagram it gets very visual, creative, and can be very inspiring. From finding profiles that curate creative animations to following hashtags that motion designers use to tag animations.

On top of that Instagram has gotten much better at what to send to your feed.

The more you follow, like, or save animations, Instagram will send you more of that type of content. Doing this, you can trust that Instagram already prepared inspiring animations for you. All you have to do is open Instagram and start viewing animated visuals.

Save it and plan for later!

For me I have been able to find after effects inspiration from others on Instagram. I use after effects, and many times I find animations that bring about new after effects ideas.

Even the video advertisements on Instagram can get creative. I find many of them using 2d motion graphics and animations.

But, even when it’s not about UX, I can find motion graphics and animations on tons of other projects.

Like Pinterest, but a place for professionals. Why? Well, you can sign up for Dribbble. But, to be able to have others view your work and comment on the work of others, you need an invitation. Otherwise, your work will be visible only on your page and not shared, as others are.

To find inspiring motion designs in Dribbble, all you have to do is search. Type in the search bar “motion graphics”. A host of small cool animations will show. Animated visuals or videos have a GIF or Video Icon to them. Hover over them or click to play the animation.

You can also see the different filters for motion graphic designs and animations. Select any of the filters to show only the work you would like to see.

This way you can find inspiration for animations particular to what you need. Coming here has helped me come up with many ideas and concepts to create. There aren't many topics here that have no motion with it. Take a moment and check it out Dribbble.
